Ana Marušić is Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Department of Research in Biomedicine and Health at the University of Split School of Medicine, Split, Croatia, and holds an Honorary Professorship at the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, UK. She got her MD, and PhD(DSc degrees from the University of Zagreb School of medicine, and is also senior reseacher in public health. Prof. Marušić is the Senior Co-editor in Chief of the ST-OPEN journal, and editor emerita of the  Journal of Global Health and the Croatian Medical Journal. She chairs the Research Committee of the World Association of Medical Editors and was the president of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and Council of Science Editors (CSE).  Prof. Marušić is the founder of the Cochrane Croatia and takes responsibility for Research as its Research Coordinator. She is on the Steering Group of the EQUATOR (Enhancing the QUality And Transparency Of Health Research) Network. Prof. Marušić is the President of The Embassy Foundation. She has a number of significant academic achievements including authorship of 400 peer-reviewed articles and was heavily involved with creating the policy of mandatory registration of clinical trials in public registries which helped change the legal regulation of clinical trials worldwide. She has received a number of awards for her research.
She serves as the Research Integrity Advisor for the Doctoral School at the University of Split School of Medicine.
Prof. Marušić is a certified VIRT2UE trainer, and has participated in a number of EU research grants. Her research is also supported by the Croatian Science Foundation.
